Rrrr! Our little Hudson has turned into a Pirate! We recently discovered that Hudson's left eye is significantly weaker than his right eye. We saw a wonderful specialist, Dr. McVey, who was very optimistic, especially since we caught it so early. He said we can most likely avoid glasses and surgery if we can get his left eye (the weaker one) to become stronger. So, we're starting with "pirate" therapy. We've convinced Hudson that for one hour everyday for the next two months he gets to turn into a "special pirate". He was all pumped about this idea while we were at the doctor's office, but once we got home and actually tried to "turn him into a pirate" he'd lost all interest. It was actually pretty pitiful. I even cried.....I know that sounds so silly, but he was awful. He cried and screamed, "no, no I don't wanna be a pirut!". Once we finally got the patch over his right eye (strong eye) he kept crying, "it hurts, my eye hurts....I can't see mommy, my eye hurts." Okay, as if that wasn't heartbreaking enough, he was turning his head up and to the side trying to focus as he was looking for us. Thank goodness that whole episode only lasted about 3 or 4 minutes and then he was completely fine. The next day he cried for about one minute but hasn't cried since then.....hopefully, we are over all the "drama". If not, we have to go to the next step which is putting some special drops in his right eye which blur his vision in his right eye and forces him to use his left eye.....now, that just sounds cruel to me....at least with the patch his right eye is covered and not blurred.

Pirate Hudson!
Figuring out it's fun to be a Pirate!
Trying to find the camera & say "cheese"
What Pirate doesn't love ice cream sandwiches
Aren't they sweet!
The life of a Pirate - this is how we found him less than 10 minutes after removing his eye patch!

How creative! My cousin wore a patch when he was a kid, but it was plain brown, not at all as creative as Hudson's cool pirate patch.
I agree with Jenn... what a cool patch! I mean, if you have to wear one, Hudson, that's the BEST one to have! ;-)
Aww he is a PRECIOUS pirate! What a GREAT idea!!! That last pic is adorable of him crashed out!
Now that is one cute pirate!!
Andi!!
Wow it's been years. You look great, your kids are ADORABLE!
That's great that you guys caught his vision problems early, although I'm sure it's hard having to watch him struggle with it. Loving the sporty "pirut" patch. Too cute.
